Making Art Everyday: fiddle leaf fig tree

Waiting for this week’s prompts, so I painted a past week’s day from before I started these. I love painting plants.

4 year old art directed character

Requested character from my four year old. Quick sketch with her dictating as I drew.

Making Art Everyday: your favorite flower

Last prompt of the week was “favorite flower.” I ❤️ daisies. (And green. 💚) Trying to keep it super loose on the last day and see how much I can do in 15 minutes. Not completely successful, but super fun and encouraging to try. I may revisit it this week and see if I can tighten it up nicely with paint and/or pencil.

Tufted Titmouse

A couple failed paintings this morning, but I did not give up on the day. Just squeezed in some painting time before dinner to make this little beauty. ❤️ I keep seeing these in the park. Such pretty, petite birds. Thanks to a knowledgeable Instagram follower I now know this is a tufted titmouse!

NYC window 2

Definitely not as successful as the last one, but here is warm-up painting, NYC Window #2. One of my favorite things about windows is you often have no idea what you are seeing. I know those are books and some kind of artwork facing out, blinds and maybe curtains? Other shapes... 🤷‍♀️ Tiny, obscured glimpses into homes. ❤️

subway riders

Based on a true moment around the holidays. My oldest and I were riding on the subway. It was crowded. She was reading while standing. I looked down at her and then around us and realized we were the only two not wearing the darkest, dreariest colors possible. Ha!

NYC Window Painting 1

One of my favorite things about city living is all the windows into other homes. I'm especially fond of seeing books or plants in windows.

I greatly enjoyed making this little painting today. Thinking I should do more window paintings for warm-ups!
